Dr. Richard Bowman Named to Parelli Foundation Board

Richard Bowman, DVM, a licensed veterinarian,is joining the Parelli Foundation Board of Directors.Dr. Bowman is the founder/owner of Bowman Second Chance Thoroughbred Adoption Center in Rhame, North Dakota. The Centergives retired race horses another opportunity at life. He is also theregulatoryveterinarian for Canterbury Park, a horseracing track,in Minnesota. When horses from the track are unable to race, he brings them to his ranch and works with them until they are adopted into a forever home.

Prior to founding Bowman Second Chance Thoroughbred Adoption, Dr. Bowman was one of the first veterinariansin the U.S. to build a mobile equine dentistry center; spending17 years traveling parts of the Midwest providing equine dentistry services. He sold his dental practice andformed North Wind Equine LLC, which practices in North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin Dr. Bowman is a graduate of Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine.

“The Parelli Foundation is excited and pleased to have someone of Dr. Bowman’s caliber joining our board,” said Lori Northrup, president of the Parelli Foundation Board of Directors. “He has spent his entire life dedicated to horses and their well-being, which embodies the Foundation’s ideal of creating a better world for horses and humans.”

Dr. Bowman stated he is looking forward to joining the organization. “The Foundation’s areas of focus in scholarship, youth horsemanship, equine welfare and therapeutic horsemanship are areas I care deeply about. It will be a pleasure to help move the Foundation’s initiatives forward and to spread the word about natural horsemanship.”

Dr. Bowman joins the following members of the Parelli Foundation Board of Directors:

  • Art Glen, Founder, Natural Horseman Saddles, Inc. Lives in Bayfield, CO
  • Jean Wyer, Retired partner, Price Waterhouse Coopers. Lives in Secaucus, NJ

The Parelli Foundation is an independent, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for the natural horsemanship community that focuses on education for youth horsemanship, therapeutic horsemanship, horse welfare and scholarships for the talented and for career minded individuals. It follows the principles of Parelli Natural Horsemanship (PNH) but operates independently of PNH.
