With a nod to its 70 years of tradition and a look to the future, the Pennsylvania National Horse Show welcomes back returning sponsors, looks forward to promoting new sponsors and offers a wide array of special events.
Pony Pizza returns to PNHS and will present a dress up photo booth for ponies and their riders. Ponies and riders are encouraged to dress up and “Say Cheese!” Southern States becomes the “Official Feed” Sponsor; W & L Sales continues their support of the horse show and Military Night; and, Wilmington Trust, a Division of M & T Bank once again presents the PA Big Jump, Thursday, October 15.
On Monday, October 12, one of the few remaining indoor “Hunt Nights” and Parade of Hounds returns and welcomes hunts and hunt riders from the east coast. Tuesday, October 13 showcases the Equine Comeback Challenge–a competition between eight rescue horses and their new trainers brought together at the horse show to display the progress they have made in just 90 days of training.
Wednesday, October 14, is Military Day at the Horse Show and all retired and active military and support personnel receive free admission. Besides being entertained, Morgan Stanley will sponsor a Veterans Job Fair and join other area employers seeking to hire veterans. Following a reception for attending military personnel, spectators and military guests will be entertained with the Dash for Cash jumping class and a “Percussion Parade” featuring area bands and music acts. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank will partner with the horse show Wednesday through Friday, October 14-16 and all spectators bringing two non-perishable items to the show will receive a $5 discount off their admission. Morgan Stanley continues its presence on Friday, October 16, by sponsoring the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Capital Region. Sixty area Bigs and their Littles will attend the horse show and receive a behind the scenes tour, meet trick rider Ashley Pletcher and watch the competition all compliments of Morgan Stanley.
With something for everyone, the Pennsylvania National Horse Show will once again kick off the year-end “Indoors” season. The Pennsylvania National Horse Show is one of the largest indoor horse shows in the U.S., hosting horses and competitors from across the country with 15,000 spectators attending from the Mid-Atlantic region. With over 1,400 qualified horses competing for $475,000 in prize money, the show features Hunter and Jumper competition and the $85,000 Grand Prix de Penn National.
The 2015 Show is slated to run from October 8-17.
