Tractor Supply Co. will award $25,000 on Saturday to 10 animal rescues that competed in the store’s national Rescue Your Rescue contest, an online competition to recognize groups working to find forever homes for adoptable animals.

The Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue in Shoals, West Virginia, won the $10,000 grand prize. Founded in 2008, the Heart of Phoenix Equine Rescue is a nonprofit rescue helping horses, ponies and donkeys in need in West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky. The top 10 finalists represented a diverse group of rescues and shelters caring for a wide variety of animals from dogs and cats to waterfowl and woodland creatures.

Tractor Supply hosted the contest as part of Pet Appreciation Week festivities. Pet Appreciation Week, or P.A.W., is the store’s annual event to celebrate pets and introduce families to the joy of owning animals.

Tractor Supply will present $25,000 worth of checks to prizewinners on 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, during Pet Appreciation Week events at local Tractor Supply stores. The event will also feature pet adoptions through a partnership with Petfinder.com, demonstrations on pet nutrition, discounts on pet food and supplies, free giveaways and valuable in-store prize drawings.

All Pet Appreciation Week events are open to the public–and pets–and will take place at local Tractor Supply stores. On Saturday, attendees will receive free gifts while supplies last and can enter a drawing to win a $200 gift card, a $100 rebate on pet services or a “Doggie Bag” prize pack valued at $35.
