2016 NRHA Futurity & Adequan North American Affiliate Championship Special Events

In celebration of the National Reining Horse Association’s (NRHA) 50th anniversary and the start of the 2016 NRHA Futurity & Adequan North American Affiliate Championship Show (NAAC), NRHA has a variety of events in store. Be a part of our legacy this year as we celebrate this exciting milestone.

The Reining Horse Foundation’s (RHF) annual Thanksgiving Dinner will be the first special event on the calendar. Many of our members leave their homes behind to be at the Futurity every year, and NRHA and RHF are glad we can offer attendees a dinner to celebrate with friends and family. Everyone is invited to feast at a Thanksgiving buffet on Thursday, November 24th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Make reservations by clicking here.

To kick off the most wonderful time of the year, NRHA Futurity spectators and exhibitors are welcome to attend the Platinum Performance Holiday Party on Monday, November 28th at 5 p.m. Don’t forget to pull out that ugly sweater for your chance to win a prize for the most outrageous holiday sweater! Though the weather outside might not be frightful, this holiday party held in Barn 3 will be delightful.

On Sunday, November 30th at 1:30 p.m. in Barn 6, horse enthusiasts of all ages and from all disciplines are invited to Learn from the Legends featuring NRHA Hall of Famers Bob Loomis and Clint Haverty. After the free demonstration clinic, NRHA Professionals will be on hand to answer any questions the audience may have about finding a trainer, show or affiliate. Don’t miss this special offering presented as part of the NRHA’s 50th Anniversary.

This year marks the return of the Freestyle Reining at the NRHA Futurity! The Freestyle Reining will be held on Wednesday, November 30 at 6 p.m. in the Jim Norick Arena, and is presented by the Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau and benefits the Reining Horse Foundation. For young reining enthusiasts, the first 100 kids admitted to the performance with purchase of a ticket will receive a 50th Anniversary NRHA Breyer Horse.

Be in your seat as we salute four decades of the Non Pro Futurity during the Non Pro Futurity Champions Showcase on Thursday, December 1, at 5:30 p.m. in the Jim Norick Arena. Following the event, stay to watch a thrilling reining competition added to the 2016 NRHA Futurity event line up, the $50,000 Silver Spurs Equine Team Challenge. See which team will “rein” supreme!

One of the most anticipated events of the NRHA Futurity & Adequan NAAC is the NRHA Markel Insurance Futurity Sales. From yearlings and broodmares, Futurity prospects and proven performance horses, there’s no better venue to find your next reining horse. The sales will be held daily Thursday, December 1st through Saturday, December 3rd in Barn 3.

The Non Pro and Open Futurity Finals are two exciting performances that shine a light on the world’s best 3–year–old reining horses and riders. With many events in store for both finals, it is best not to miss out on either. See who will win the title of NRHA Cinch Non Pro Futurity Champion on Friday, December 2nd and who will take home the NRHA Open Futurity Championship on Saturday, December 3rd.

With all the events in store to celebrate NRHA’s 50th Anniversary, this will surely be a historic milestone to remember.
