American Quarter Horses Continue to Excel in Dressage

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — NOV. 30, 2012 — 2012 marked the third year that American Quarter Horses could earn AQHA points in dressage and incentive fund monies by participating in USDF shows that were recognized

2012 marked the third year that American Quarter Horses could earn AQHA points in dressage and incentive fund monies by participating in USDF shows that were recognized by the American Quarter Horse Association. Since its inception in January 2010, Lynn Palm, coached by Cyril Pittion-Rossillon, has been competing with American Quarter Horses at such shows. Two of her mounts, Larks Home Run and In Dee Extreme, earned high honors this year.

Larks Home Run, owned by Amy and Tom Grabe of Ocala, FL, garnished the Adequan USDF/AQHA Al l Breed Award at Second Level with a median score of 64.60%. Larks Home Run’s stable mate, In Dee Extreme, bred and owned by Robin DeGraff of Midway, KY, also made an impression with a first place finish for the Adequan USDF/AQHA All Breed Award in Training Level with a median score of 71.30% . Both horses qualified for the USDF Region 3 Championships and show promise to earn 2012 year end awards presented by the American Quarter Horse Association.

For those AQHA competitors who like patterns, stepping into the dressage ring and mastering a pattern-like test will have riders hooked on dressage. Like horsemanship and hunt seat equitation, riders can execute a test with finesse, accuracy and fluidity. The partnerships and progression of training in dressage is priceless!
