New Englanders are strong on tradition–and Equine Affaire’s popular musical celebration of the horse, the Fantasia, is a tradition that horse people in the region hold so dearly that they began ordering their tickets for the November event in the middle of July. Why the anticipation and the rush for tickets months in advance? It’s an evening of unforgettable equestrian entertainment that delights horse lovers young and old and the “perfect ending” to a busy day of shopping and learning at Equine Affaire!
The Fantasia will take place at 8:00 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (November 12-14) in the Eastern States Exposition coliseum in W. Springfield, Massachusetts, and will be made possible through the generous sponsorship of Absorbine.
What to Expect: As the entertainment “cornerstone” of Equine Affaire’s remarkable program of activities for horse lovers of all walks of equestrian life, the Fantasia is always an uplifting and special reminder of why we love horses–showcasing their beauty, diversity, athleticism, and willing spirit. For those not familiar with the Fantasia, it is best described as a “musical celebration of the horse” featuring outstanding equine and equestrian performers choreographed to musical styles ranging from traditional and country to classical and contemporary.
“We’re pretty excited about this year’s Fantasia production because it will have just the right blend of drama, fast-paced action, and remarkable horsemanship,” explained Eugenia Snyder, the President of Equine Affaire. “The 2015 Fantasia will incorporate many of the elements that Fantasia-goers have come to expect at the event including Grand Prix freestyle dressage, freestyle reining, driving, horses performing at liberty, and drill team performances–but all with a new twist.
“The Knights of Iceland will bring their unique energy from the land of fire and ice, and we’re thrilled to be able to feature once again the incomparable Sylvia Zerbini with her team of eight Arabians working at liberty.
“Were especially excited to be able to include in the 2015 Fantasia four very special acts from the phenomenal ‘Gala of the Royal Horses’,” Snyder continued. “The Gala show is currently touring North America showcasing Andalusians, Lipizzaners, Arabians, and Friesians. The 2015 Fantasia will culminate with Lipizzaners performing the phenomenal ‘airs above the ground’ under the direction of world renowned riding master, Rene Gasser–the creator and producer of ‘Gala of the Royal Horses.’ There will be plenty of sensational equine entertainment at the 2015 Fantasia–and plenty of reminders of why we find horses so intoxicating.”
