HRTV Offers Horse Sport Fans a Special Group of Shows on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

The Network for Horse Sports, will provide viewers with a stocking full of gift-wrapped holiday programming, featuring both original horse racing shows, along with a recap of this year’s outstanding English and Western events, when it offers special programming on both Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, and Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

On Christmas Eve, HRTV will unveil three hours of original horse racing shows, designed to preview the upcoming 2014 winter racing campaign, as well as assess the upcoming Eclipse Awards and recap an outstanding 2013 racing season, beginning at 2 p.m. Commencing at 8 p.m. ET, a myriad of equestrian shows, including the Leon Iowa Rodeo 2013, the Maserati 109th U.S. Polo Open Championships, the Diamonds and Dirt Barrel Horse Classic, and much more, will continue throughout Christmas Day.

The “HRTV 2014 Winter Preview Show” kicks off the Christmas Eve racing block, preparing racing fans for outstanding coast-to-coast racing for the winter season. Also, HRTV hosts will take fans through stakes schedules from top-flight racetracks, including Santa Anita Park, Gulfstream Park, Fair Grounds, Oaklawn, Aqueduct and Golden Gate. Additionally, viewers will get an early primer of the 3-year-old picture as the field for the 2014 Kentucky Derby gradually takes shape.

Immediately following, HRTV will unveil “Pursuit of the 2013 Eclipse Awards.” Laffit Pincay, Jeff Siegel, Richard Migliore and others will discuss the leading nominees for the “Horse of the Year,” as well as look at many close battles for divisional honors. At 6 p.m. ET, “HRTV Rewind: 2013 Year In Review” includes HRTV talent reminiscing about their favorite moments from the past year.

At the conclusion of the racing-related shows, equestrian fans will be treated to a wide-range of programming, beginning with the Leon Iowa Rodeo 2013 at 8 p.m. ET. Dubbed the “best rodeo in Iowa” for 30 years, the action-packed event will showcase seven rough stock and timed events.

Moving into Christmas Day, highlighted prime time events include the Maserati 109th U.S. Polo Championships, the “Super Bowl of Polo,” from Wellington, FL at 6 p.m. ET, as well as the premiere of a new edition of “Horse Flicks,” featuring the Marchador horses from Brazil, that airs at 10 p.m. ET. The Marchador are an Iberian breed, descending from the Lusitano stallions of Portugal.

Earlier that day, the Hampton Classic Grand Prix, headlining world class riders vying for big purse money and coveted spots in the FEI standings, the Diamonds and Dirt Barrel Racing, and highlights from the 2011 Alltech National Horse Show Grand Prix, are among the featured offerings.
