HRTV.com Premieres the Cactus Reining Classic

HRTV, The Network for Horse Sports, will expand its coverage of prime equestrian events when it offers the live webcast, via www.hrtv.com, of the annual Cactus Reining Classic from Scottsdale, Arizona. Coverage began on March 5 and continues through Sunday, March 9.

The HRTV.com webcast will commence each day at 8 a.m. ET.

The Cactus Reining Classic, first established in 2005, is the first of a three-show series held in the Western part of the U.S., and is considered the Triple Crown of the Reining industry. The Cactus Reining Classic is held at WestWorld of Scottsdale each March. (The other two events are Reining by the Bay in Woodside, California, and High Roller Reining Classic in Las Vegas, Nevada.)

“The addition of the Cactus Reining Classic broadens our scope and reaffirms HRTV’s commitment to providing ‘horse sports’ fans with outstanding programming,” said Scott Daruty, President of HRTV. “We’re delighted to offer this premier event in the world of Reining.”

“We are really pleased to expand viewership of the Triple Crown of Reining to HRTV’s online audience. It is a natural step in the growth of this ‘horse sports’ discipline, making more people aware of the excitement, challenges, and champions involved in the sport of Reining,” said Amanda Brumley, President, Brumley Management Group.

Reining, the only Western discipline recognized by the Federation Equestre International, has grown dramatically in the U.S. and abroad over the past 10 years. During that span, membership in the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) has grown by more than 50 percent, capturing the hearts of equine enthusiasts around the globe.

Highlighted events during the five-day event include: the SmartPak $15,000 Added Non-Pro Maturity, the Protect the Harvest $42,500 Added Non-Pro Derby, the Lucas Oil $67,500 Added Open Derby, and more.
