Luis Balzac Joins Horses Healing Hearts Board of Directors

Horses Healing Hearts (HHH) today announced that Luis Balzac, Managing Director of BalzacCapo Group, a public relations, marketing and business development consulting firm, has joined the non-profit organization’s Board of Directors. A dynamic and influential leader, Luis is the former Deputy Secretary of State of Puerto Rico, Assistant Secretary of Economic Development and Commerce, and Regional Director for the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration, in New York. Luis brings decades of experience to the HHH Board in key areas including marketing, public relations, negotiation / mediation and public affairs.

With his extensive experience as a government liaison and consumer advocate, Luis is adept at creating collaborative strategies for change and growth, skills that are key for HHH as the organization positions itself for national expansion. Luis explained, “Our first priority is to roll up our sleeves and work together on the development of a strategic plan to help the organization reach our short and long term goals.”

In addition to his work in the public and private sectors, Luis has served on the Board of Directors of several non-profit organizations including the American Diabetes Association of New York, and the Advisory Board of the YMCA. Luis was recently recognized by El Diario La Prensa as one of the most successful and influential Latinos in New York and tri-state area.

Horse Healing Hearts is a unique preventative education and equine assisted therapy program for children living with alcoholism and addiction. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that serves children each week from more than 50 families in Palm Beach County. Since 2009 we have completed more than 900 sessions through 1,800 contact hours with children of alcoholics and addicts age 6-18 who meet weekly for two hour prevention education sessions that consist of peer-to-peer counseling overseen by a certified Prevention / Mental Health Specialist.
