Baby animals have once again inspired photographers of all ages to compete in Manna Pro’s annual “Baby Your Babies” photo and video contest. The winning entries for 2014 were chosen in June and represent a wide range of species, including horses, rabbits, chickens, goats, cattle, pigs and dogs.

“We were looking for photos and videos that showed creativity and quality, and that also captured special moments in these young animals’ lives,” said Beth Rogers, vice president of Marketing at Manna Pro, an animal nutrition company. “The contest is very much tied to Manna Pro’s mission of nurturing the growth and development of animals from the time they are babies until they are in their senior years. We recognize the unique bond our customers have with their animals, and “Baby Your Babies” gives our customers a chance to share that joy with others through pictures and videos.”

A photo of a young child nuzzling a pony won the “Human Touch” category. The top prize was awarded for a photo of three baby chicks sheltered under their mother’s protective wing. The photographer was Amber Dame of Mount Juliet, Tennessee. Amber’s photo won the “Mother’s Love” category and was also selected as the Grand Prize winner. She won $1,100 cash for her entry.

Seven different categories were set up, with a $100 prize for each winner. In addition to Amber, the winners are as follows:

  • Second Place ($500 cash) and “Sweet Siblings” category: Michaela Flowers, Punta Gorda, FL
  • “Human Touch” category: Shelby Bonter, Lyons, MI
  • “BFF” (Best Friends Forever) category: Susy Rushing, Geneseo, IL
  • “LOL” (Laugh Out Loud) category: Kylie Hendrix, Prineville, OR
  • “Look at Me” category: Ailee Faray, Wakefield, VA
  • “Lights. Camera. Animal!” (video) category: Denise Fraser, La Mesa, CA

To select the winners, Manna Pro employees voted for their top choices first, narrowing down the list to approximately 55 entries. Members of the public then voted for their favorites from that list.

“We all look forward to seeing the submissions each year,” Rogers said. “It’s fun and it’s a great way to connect with our customers.”
