Marketing Internships Offered for the NRHA Futurity and Derby

The National Reining Horse Association’s Marketing & Development Department offers two marketing internships each year with the next deadline being Oct. 1.

Aug. 22, 2013 — The National Reining Horse Association’s Marketing & Development Department works with every facet of the reining horse industry from NRHA Professionals and breeders to rookies and youth exhibitors. The Association offers two marketing internships each year with the next deadline being Oct. 1 for the 2013 NRHA Futurity & Adequan North American Affiliate Championship Show in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Interns will be given the opportunity and challenge to write news releases, interact with media professionals, assist with web site content, produce special events and fulfill Corporate Partner and event sponsor obligations. Candidates must be willing to assist with all functions of the Marketing & Development Department including early mornings and lengthy days during major events. They also must demonstrate an interest in the livestock or horse industry and have the ability to work collaboratively. Candidates must be creative, energetic, patient and reliable.

Internship Requirements (i.e.: courses taken, previous experience)

Junior- and senior-level college students working on Agricultural Communications or Journalism degrees are preferred. The candidate must have his/her own transportation. It is preferred that the candidate has his/her own Mac and have basic knowledge of Photoshop, iMovie and social media.

Duties

Assist with management of NRHA media office and write scripts for the show. Assist with distribution of results and creation of news releases. Work with official photographer/videographer to compile results photos/videos for distribution. Assist with show updates on Facebook. Assist with other show functions as needed.

Compensation

Stipend based on length of internship (daily rate of $45/day, plus lodging and reimbursement for travel to and from show). Will assist with college credit. Will reimburse travel expenses to and from show.

Application Deadlines and Duration

Applications for the 2013 NRHA Futurity Internships must apply by Oct. 1, 2013. The term of the internship is approximately Nov. 25 until Dec. 9. Please note that you cannot serve as an intern and compete in the same show.

Applications for the 2014 NRHA Derby Internship must apply by May 1, 2014. The term of the internship is approximately June 16-30, 2014. Please note that you cannot serve as an intern and compete in the same show.
