NRHA’s 50th Anniversary Special Events Kick Off at the 2016 NRHA Futurity & Adequan NAAC

The 2016 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) Futurity & Adequan North American Affiliate Championship (NAAC) Show is in full swing. On Sunday, November 27, the kick off of NRHA’s 50th anniversary special events began with “Learn from the Legends,” a free demonstration clinic with NRHA Hall of Fame riders, Bob Loomis and Clint Haverty. Other special events include the Freestyle Reining and Non Pro Futurity Champions Showcase.

As Loomis stood in the stands, taking questions posed by the audience, Haverty rode his horse Whodini, demonstrating training techniques, and at one point rode bridleless, a pinnacle moment of the demonstration. The “Learn from the Legends” brought a diverse crowd of horse enthusiasts to the 2016 NRHA Futurity & Adequan NAAC. For those who missed it, the entire clinic was aired on Facebook Live for people who wanted to watch via social media.

Be sure to attend the several other NRHA 50th anniversary special events that are set to take place throughout the rest of the NRHA Futurity.

November 30 saw the return of the Freestyle Reining, which began at 6 p.m. in the Jim Norick Arena. The Freestyle Reining is presented by The Oklahoma City Convention & Visitors Bureau and benefits the Reining Horse Foundation. For young reining enthusiasts, the first 100 kids admitted to the performance with purchase of a ticket will receive a 50th anniversary NRHA Breyer Horse.

On Thursday, December 1, at 6 p.m., we will celebrate four decades of Non Pro Futurity Champions during the Non Pro Showcase in the NRHA 50th Anniversary Special Presentation, held in the Jim Norick Arena. Following the Non Pro Showcase, NRHA will present a thrilling reining competition, the Silver Spurs Equine Team Challenge. See which team will “rein” supreme!

With all the special events in store to celebrate NRHA’s golden anniversary, this year’s NRHA Futurity will be an event to remember.
