While keeping the valuable tack of professional equestrians safe and secure, SaddleLockers is finally letting the barn cat out of the bag to proudly reveal that its first product ambassador is three-time (2010, 2012, 2014) Rolex Kentucky Three-Day champion, Olympic team Silver and World team Gold medalist, and current top-ranked Three-Day Eventing rider in the world: William Fox-Pitt.
It’s been a sponsorship in the making since SaddleLockers caught the eye of the Fox-Pitt team at last year’s Rolex challenge. “They stopped by once. Then they stopped by again,” said SaddleLockers founder and designer, Rainer Herrmann, “and then we started talking.”
A personal invitation from Fox-Pitt, the only rider ever to win five of the world’s six CCI4*s, to visit his Wood Lane Stables facility back home in England proved to Rainer just how impressed and interested the champion horseman was in SaddleLockers’ steel stationary and collapsible mobile tack boxes.
“SaddleLockers made its public debut less than a year ago. Rolex was only our second vendor appearance ever. It is very exciting for us to see our idea so quickly and warmly received by one of the top riders in the world. He’s a great guy and he and his family were wonderful hosts for my visit,” Rainer said.
SaddleLockers also passed muster with Fox-Pitt’s groom, Jackie Potts, who was recently presented with one of the “Oscars of the equestrian world,” the FEI Best Groom Award, from outgoing president HRH Princess Haya at the FEI Awards Gala 2014.
“I’m not the horseman in my family, but I know how many people would have jumped at the chance I had to visit his barn, which helped me to customize what he wanted, in look and logo, and in placement of his SaddleLockers. We can match any design and build to suit any specifications. SaddleLockers is a world-class experience for every rider.”
February 4-15, SaddleLockers will introduce for the first time its stationary and mobile units to the world-class environment of the FTI Winter Equestrian Festival, during Weeks 5 and 6 of hunt seat competition including the $34,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge, $50,000 Equestrian Sotheby’s Jumper Derby and WCHR Hunter Spectacular.
The Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF) is the largest and longest-running event in horse sports, a 12-week annual equestrian extravaganza each January through April at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center (PBIEC) in Wellington, Florida. A proving ground for the US Equestrian Team, WEF hosts selection trials and qualifiers for international events such as the FEI World Cup Finals and Olympics, plus the nation’s premier competitions for riders aged from 6 to 70 years old in more than 55 unique divisions of competition.
SaddleLockers is the shared idea of Rainer and Megan Herrmann. Rainer, an engineer in Detroit’s automotive industry, observed day-to-day life around the barn where Megan rode, and in the interest of making things simpler and more secure for his wife’s own equipment, came up with an idea–not for a better mousetrap–but a better tack box.
The story of the Herrmanns and their SaddleLockers, and more about the Fox-Pitt sponsorship, are featured in the January cover story of The Aiken Horse, the monthly news for the heart of South Carolina horse country and online at www.theaikenhorse.com.
At every event where SaddleLockers have appeared, the result has been sold-out success, most recently in November at the record-breaking Equine Affaire-Massachusetts. As a special ‘thank-you’ for stopping by, SaddleLockers is continuing to offer a big discount for last-minute holiday shoppers:
