The new “Flying SL Ranch Radio Channel” is power-packed entertainment for horse lovers thirsting for something completely different. Featuring 24/7 old-time cowboy-themed music, interspersed with horse tips, interviews with famed equine experts, hilarious horse antics and much, much more. Created by community radio talent and horseman, Charlie Engel, (Chuckaroo the Buckaroo) and sponsored as a labor of love rather than a commercial venture by Tom Spalding of Spalding Labs (the “Chief Fly Guy,”), this Internet-based station is designed to give the horse community a unique source for fun-filled, listening enjoyment. According to Tom, “To date, there are no other ‘Old Fashioned, Horse Themed,’ radio stations specifically dedicated to combining cowboy tunes, expert horse advice and humor. In a fast paced world of iPads, Robots and Satellites, this station provides a return to an older, gentler time that fits well with the horse lover lifestyle. If the horse world had a soundtrack, this might very well be it. You won’t hear this stuff anywhere else.”
Highlights include a special one hour daily variety show hosted by renowned radio personality, Chuckaroo the Buckaroo and his sunny sidekick, Buzz O’Bannion (the world’s funniest fly predator.) Our hosts ride the prairie, sharing a compilation of cowboy classics, horse training excerpts from noted horse trainers and amusing anecdotes. In the first episode, Chuckaroo and Buzz showcase an interview with Jon Ensign on horse hobbling as well as announcer Desert Pete’s amusing tales about the old west. The show runs several times daily.
Among the station’s thousands of song offerings, you’ll hear selections ranging from Western Standard’s such as the immortal“Git Along, Little Dogies” and the rousing Rawhide theme, “Rolling, Rolling, Rolling,” to classic tracks like “They Call The Wind Mariah” and charming ballads such as Chris Ladou’s “He Rides The Wild Horses.”
Of course, the “Flying SL Ranch Radio Show,” is more than great old-time cowboy music. We’ll be presenting a veritable who’s who of interviews from Rick Lamb’s extensive library, featuring the likes of: Pat Parelli, Al Dunning, Temple Grandin, Kevin McNab and hundreds more. There will also be horse tips and interviews with many of the clinicians of “Light Hands Horsemanship,” fame, including: Lester Buckley, Jon Ensign, Eitan Beth-Halachmy, Dr. Robert M. Miller and Richard Winters as well as Julie Goodnight, the host of Horse Master TV.
