“We are very excited to be working with David and Jonathan on this new concept,” said EQUUS editor Laurie Prinz. “We are accustomed to bringing the world’s greatest experts to our readers through our articles, but this is the first time we’ll be able to bring them together directly.”
David O’Connor’s illustrious eventing career is highlighted by his individual gold medal win at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. After his retirement from competition in 2004, he became involved in coaching for the U.S. and Canada in international eventing and is now the chef d’equipe for the U.S. eventing team. He was inducted to the United States Eventing Association's Hall of Fame in 2009.
In 2006, Jonathan Field developed his own method of Horsemanship: Jonathan Field Horsemanship, Inspired by Horses. It is a program designed with the horse in mind while developing the relationship between horse and human. With Jonathan’s natural ability to communicate, he’s made his program fun and easy to understand. In addition to being a passionate teacher and gifted presenter, Jonathan is an amazing horseman on a quest to share his knowledge with horse lovers around the world.
The 10 finalists will receive a copy of Healthy Hooves, The EQUUS Guide to Your Horse's Feet. Offering the combined wisdom of leading experts presented in EQUUS magazine over the years, this book tells you what you need to know about normal as well as troubled equine hooves.
Healthy Hooves covers the basics of hoof structure, growth and health, as well as the principles of biomechanics and balance. In addition, you'll learn how to recognize specific hoof problems, including bruises, abscesses, cracks and wounds, and take action to resolve them. The contest is now open and will close on July 15, 2014. For more information and to enter go to http://EQUUSmagazine.com/WinAClinic.
