Tredstep Ireland Symphony Breeches Define the New Standard

Less than one year after their launch, the Symphony Collection from Tredstep Ireland continues to gain momentum as the breech of choice for riders of all disciplines. To celebrate this important milestone, Tredstep has further expanded the Symphony Collection with the addition of two new styles, the Verde for gentlemen, and the Nero designed to provide riders with exceptional value in an everyday breech.

In addition, Tredstep has added two sumptuous new colors–Coco and Midnight Grey–in the popular Rosa breech style. Now comprised of five distinct styles including the Argenta, the Azzura, the Rosa, the Verde and the Nero, Tredstep’s Symphony Collection breeches are available from fine equestrian retailers nationwide.

The Symphony Collection breeches are distinguished by their unique Motion Fit design and the use of high performance fabrics, which combine to provide riders with a beautiful fit and enhanced performance. All Symphony breeches are differentiated by three unique and thoughtful design features that run throughout the entire collection including:

Integrated Cuff
The Integrated Cuff design incorporates a scrolled pattern and stretch panels to contour the lower leg. This reduces fabric bunching and accommodates varying calf sizes, while streamlining and elongating the leg. The Integrated Cuff stays put under the boot, producing a secure feel and full freedom of movement, without the use of Velcro®.

Definition Waistband Designed using circular pattern techniques to improve the definition of the rider’s waist and eliminating belt pulling and gaps. It creates a more comfortable and noticeably more flattering fit, particularly at the lower back.

Articulated Knee Pad The upper area of the kneepad is lightly padded for increased comfort against the saddle, and the lower area, which is inside the rider’s boot, is scalloped to reduce bulk and aid in the flexion of the knee. The Symphony Kneepad maintains the front curve and look of the traditional kneepatch but it has been specifically designed in terms of shape, stitch articulation, and graded padding to actively aid the unrestricted bending and flexion of the rider’s knees. Scrolled patterns and butterfly seams contour the lower leg shape to provide a superior fit and reduce bunching of fabric at the back of knee.

The Tredstep Symphony breeches feature high performance fabrics which incorporate the best materials available to offer four-way stretch with excellent shape retention, moisture control and a soft, skin friendly feel. The Argenta, Rosa and Verde styles incorporate Schoeller NanoSphere non-stick, self cleaning, stain resistance treatment that keep breeches spotless despite spills from coffee, ketchup, honey and even red wine.

The Symphony breech designs were more than two years in development and influenced by feedback from top riders worldwide, a collaboration that has contributed to their wide spread acceptance. In fact, both the Champion and Reserve riders at the 2013 World Champion Hunter Rider Pro finals (Liza Towell Boyd and Amanda Steege) wear Tredstep breeches exclusively. Members of the United States Equestrian Team’s show jumping elite including winning Nation’s Cup team member Catherine Pasmore and Olympic veteran Peter Wylde wear the silicone knee patch Azzura style in competition.

While top Eventers such as London 2012 Irish team bronze medalist Aoife Clark and rising stars from the U.S. including Lauren Kieffer and Hannah Sue Burnett prefer the Argenta full-seat breeches, particularly for their dressage and show jumping phases.

“The first time I put on the Azzura breeches I knew that I had finally found the perfect style for me,” said U.S. show jumper Catherine Pasmore. “They are the most comfortable breeches I’ve ever worn and I love the gorgeous fabric and the sporty look of the silicone knee patches.”

“When I set out to design the Symphony Collection I believed that we could take a breech style that riders considered the industry standard and improve it exponentially,” explained Aidan Keogh, Tredstep Managing Director and chief designer. “The overwhelming response to the Symphony Collection in its first year on the market has proven to me that the designs have achieved this goal, and I couldn’t be more delighted.”

In 1993, Irish entrepreneur and Three-Day Event rider Aidan Keogh saw the need for a better half chap, and set out to create his own. A former design student who studied fine arts, Keogh believed that he could improve the comfort and performance of riding wear, while respecting the traditions of a Centuries-old sport. His product eventually redefined the market and brought half-chaps to the mainstream where they are now standard equipment for every rider. Along the way he created Tredstep Ireland, a company driving innovation, but ever respectful of the traditional roots of equestrian sport. The company now offers a complete collection of breeches, boots, chaps and accessories including the newly released Symphony Collection of high performance clothing and the popular Renaissance Collection of boots, all designed to make the riding experience more enjoyable.
