After much anticipation, the second competitor to enter the legendary World Championship of Colt Starting has been named. In 2015, fans will witness a historical match up when undefeated three time Road to the Horse World Champion Chris Cox returns to go head to head with Road to the Horse 2014 World Champion (and 2014 Wild Card Champion) Jim Anderson as they battle to see who will walk away from the world’s richest natural horsemanship competition with a check for $100,000.
Chris Cox is a master of colt starting with World Championship wins in 2007, 2008 and 2011. No other competitor in the electrifying history of Road to the Horse has taken home the coveted title every time they have stepped into the round pen.
“This is going to be one of the most anticipated match-ups in the history of Road to the Horse” states Owner/Producer Tootie Bland. “Cox is a competitor of integrity and courage and it is an honor to have him return to Road to the Horse. He is a true man of western character.”
As one of the country’s leading horsemen and clinicians, Chris Cox has spent a lifetime learning from the greatest teachers of all, the horse. Raised on a cattle ranch in the wilds of Australia, Cox had opportunities that most horsemen of this day and age will never experience. With only horses for transportation and a cattle ranch as his life, Cox learned at an early age how to appreciate the abilities and traditions of the great men and horses around him.
With his practical, straightforward approach, Cox teaches horse people to get great results. Influenced in his early years by both English and Western traditions, he has implemented a proven style and technique that can be applied universally across all disciplines.
Cox has been conducting clinics and demonstrations for over 20 years. While teaching the principles and methods behind his authentic horsemanship, Cox has also become a successful trainer/breeder and major competitor in the cutting horse world and also competes in Reined Cow Horse events and team roping when his schedule allows. Cox has dedicated his life to teaching horsemen and women in the hope that they will understand and appreciate horses in their lives. Cox demonstrates with dedication and a mutual respect between horse and human, having a versatile and willing partnership is an achievable goal.
Joining Cox and Anderson will be a newly crowned 2015 Wild Card Champion. Wild Cards for 2015 are Sean Patrick, Mary Kitzmiller, Trevor Carter, James Cooler, Shamus Haws, Dan Keen and Bobby Knight. The 2015 Wild Cards selected their colts from the 2014 AQHA Remuda from the 6666 Ranch at Road to the Horse 2014 and they will return to Road to the Horse 2015 with their colts, where a new Wild Card Champion will be crowned.
Road to the Horse 2015 will return to the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, on March 26-29, 2015. Road to the Horse 2015 tickets are now available online at www.RoadtotheHorse.com or by calling 877-772-5425.
