Winnie’s Equine Cookies ‘Pays It Forward’ With Donations and Treats

What happens when an irresistible whole-food organic horse cookie, a national group of horse lovers, and a sanctuary that specializes in draft horses join forces? A positive synergy is created combining philanthropy and marketing.

Through a digital marketing campaign that included Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and email, Winnie’s Cookies and Ferrell Hollow Farm Senior Horse Sanctuary created a mutually beneficial program that provided increased cookie sales and donations. The project supported the rescue with a percent of all sales being donated and allowed rescue supporters to purchase Winnie’s Cookies at a reduced price. As luck would have it, many of the purchased cookies were donated to Ferrell Hollow!

“We were happy to join forces with the dynamic team at Ferrell Hollow. Their volunteers and founder worked with our marketing people to mold a program that had wonderful end results. After a two week promotional period, we were pleased to send a check reflecting 10% of all sales to the rescue, as well as a big box of our healthy cookies,” stated Winnie’s owner Carolyn Kooken. One added bonus of the joint-promotion was that every horse at Ferrell Hollow, even the near toothless seniors, were able to enjoy the fresh-baked, soft whole-grain goodness of the cookies.

“Supporting rescues is just a part of doing business,” added Kooken, “My horses are fortunate to have permanent loving homes in their senior years, but that’s not the case with many others. We look forward to working with other rescues in the future for similar projects.”
