Zoetis kicked off the #IVaccinated Sweepstakes – a new online sweepstakes specially designed to promote the importance of annual equine vaccination to disease prevention. Through May 16, 2017, horse owners can visit www.IVaccinatedSweepstakes.com for a chance to win a $2,500 gift card to the equine veterinarian or tack store of their choice.

“Zoetis has taken a leadership role in equine wellness through our continued innovation and industry commitment,” said Sally Amtmann, senior equine marketing manager, Zoetis. “The #IVaccinated Sweepstakes allows us to highlight the need to protect horse health through tailored equine vaccination programs.”

“A standard one-size-fits-all equine vaccination program does not exist, as every horse has a unique set of needs,” said Kevin Hankins, DVM, senior equine technical services veterinarian for Zoetis. “The American Association of Equine Practitioners Vaccination Guidelines recommend an evaluation of each individual horse’s situation with the veterinarian on your team and vaccinating according to his needs. At a minimum, be sure all horses are annually vaccinated for the five core equine diseases, which include Eastern and Western equine encephalomyelitis, rabies, tetanus and West Nile.”

Key factors to consider when designing your horse’s vaccination program with your veterinarian include:

• Is my horse exposed to other horses?
• Will my horse travel? Or is he housed with horses that travel?
• Is my horse exposed to wildlife?
• Is my horse exposed to standing water?
• Will I exhibit my horse in competitions that have specific health requirements?
• What is my horse’s age?

Through the #IVaccinated Sweepstakes, eligible participants are invited to upload a photo of their horse for a chance to win. Once a photo is uploaded, horse owners may select a custom #IVaccinated frame and can then share the graphic via their Facebook, Instagram or Twitteraccount. 

The grand prizewinner of the #IVaccinated Sweepstakes will receive a $2,500 gift card to the equine veterinarian or tack store of their choice. Additionally, weekly winners will be announced each Tuesday throughout the sweepstakes on the EQStable from Zoetis Facebook page. Weekly #IVaccinated Sweepstakes winners will receive a $100 Amazon.com gift card. The grand prizewinner will be selected at random and personally notified on May 18, 2017.
