Expandable: Ad that covers over the content of a site when the creative expands. Configured to expand when the user takes a certain action (such as clicking or hovering for a set amount of time).

Pushdown: Ad that moves the content of a site lower when the creative expands in order to create additional space for an ad unit. Configured to pushdown when the user takes a certain action (such as clicking or hovering for a set amount of time).

Both ad unit styles will collapse when the user clicks away from the ad or clicks the “X” in the upper right hand corner of the extra ad space. The collapsed ad space will re-reveal (for expandable ads) or pull up (for pushdown ads) the page content effected by the extended advertising space.

You can load two items in a single custom template in DFP. Expandable Ad units must be provided with third-party tags, but Pushdown Ad units can be provided without the third-party tag.

Both Expandable and Pushdown ad units must be click initiated. Mouseover expansion is accepted but must include 1 second delay before expanding. Must include highly visible close button, “X”, in top right corner at all times. Or mouse-off retraction is acceptable.

The sticky footer bar is a persistent/fixed ad unit at the bottom of the page that stays visible while users scroll content on the page up or down.

Static images in either JPG/GIF or third party tag format is ideal. Either a 970x90 or 728x90 will serve in the adhesion unit on a desktop, and a 320x50px ad banner will serve as a mobile ad adhesion unit.

Video ads can be created to play once a page loads, once the ad is in view, or full control can be given to the viewer.

* A 300x250 is the recommended size for an In Banner Video Ad as this provides the best size and visibility of the video. However it is possible to include a video on the other banner sizes available on our sites.

These are pop-up ad untis that blocks out the site’s other content, forcing users to interact by clicking out or clicking through the ad. Interstitial ads are available strictly for desktop audiences.

If you are using a third party, the banners must have the interstital functionality built into the tags, or you can provide an image with a link, and you can use the custom creative template. Interstitial ads can support in-banner videos. Ads must have at least a 1 second delay and must include highly visible close button in the top right corner.

If needed, we can create your ad for you. A proof will be emailed to you for approval and sign off. We will provide two proofs before final approval.

  • For ads being created by the publisher, submit typed copy and basic ad layout.
  • Digital images provided must be saved as a TIFF or EPS file, CMYK, 300 dpi. Color will shift in files provided as RGB. A color proof must be provided from file for accuracy and reference.
  • Logos must be submitted as a PDF; all other file types are subject to review for reproduction quality.

Any ads or materials that do not follow these specifications are not guaranteed for reproduction.

  • File Format: Adobe InDesign*, Illustrator*, or Photoshop*, TIFF, EPS or PDF. (QuarkXpress and Microsoft Publisher files are not accepted.)
  • All digitally submitted ads should be saved as a PDF/X-1a PDF. PLEASE NOTE: Files must be saved as CMYK (not RGB) at 300 dpi.
  • Ad file set to correct dimensions.
  • All resource files included in the ad (logos, graphics and photo images).
  • All PostScript and Open Type fonts. (True Type fonts not accepted.)
  • For bleed ads, please be sure to follow specifications listed allowing 1/8” (0.25”) beyond trim.
  • Full page ads: All Equine Network advertisement’s non-bleed copy must be 3/16” (0.1875”) from the ad trim (text and images). Content not within this area may be subject to trim.

* Please package all contents to accompany your ad, including images and fonts.
