Social media channels can support your horse business by providing changing information and client comments on your website. The platforms you choose to use allow for in-the-moment communication with clients and prospective customers while your website enables you greater flexibility and visibility. And you control all aspects of your website, which isn’t true of any social media channels. On those, you live by someone else’s rules.

“Not everyone is on Facebook, and you should look at your ideal client demographics to see if they interact on this channel at all,” said Karen Paul, owner of Elida Creative, a marketing company in Ballston Spa, New York. “A lot of younger people frequent other social media spaces.”

Using a business website and connecting it to your social pages enables people to easily find you. Social media can drive traffic to your website and vice versa. You can embed your social feeds onto your website, which increases engagement and credibility by providing customers opportunities to contribute content.

“While social media can be incredibly useful, it is still an external platform that you can’t control, so be careful if you’re thinking of including social feeds on your website,” she cautioned.

Providing direct links to social media pages and embedding feeds onto a website is fairly simple. Most of the DIY platforms like GoDaddy, WIX and SquareSpace have a widget that you can add to your site to connect social media feeds.

“Adding Links is as easy as adding the social icons and linking them to your pages,” she explained. “There are also third-party tools you can use to embed social channels on your website, keep them up-to-date and sleek and natural as your website changes.”

Incorporating social links on your website increases your sites visibility because it improves your ranking in search engines such as Google and Bing. Place them somewhere easy to find—at the bottom, off to one side or above the header—so that visitors to your site can easily find them any time they visit and they can click to see what you have posted.
