Tom Winsor, currently vice president and general manager of Active Interest Media’s Equine Network, publishers of Horse & Rider, Equus, StableManagement and 10 other equine brands, is leaving AIM to become the new Chief Operating Officer at Spalding Laboratories headquartered in Reno, Nevada.
For the past four years, Winsor, a veteran in the media and direct-marketing business, has been the driving force in the acquisition and consolidation of four major media companies, all focused on the equine industry. His efforts have led to the creation of one of the most influential equine publishing networks in the United States.
His new position as COO of Spalding Labs kicks off in August 2014. “Through my vast media career, I have known many exceptional partners and colleagues, with AIM topping the list,” stated Winsor. “I am very excited about forging this new alliance with Spalding Labs, one of the most progressive and sophisticated direct marketers in the equine industry, today.”
Spalding Labs’ “Chief Fly Guy,” Tom Spalding, is proud to welcome Winsor aboard. “I’m thrilled to add an associate of Tom Winsor’s stature to the team,” Spalding said. “We have a number of new projects in the works and are confident that Tom’s leadership and commitment to the industry will help spearhead a new chapter in Spalding Labs’ unrivaled growth.
A family-owned company for more than 38 years, Spalding Labs products include Fly Predators, Bye Bye Odor and the CowVac. CEO Tom Spalding took over the reins in 2003 and has grown the business 20-fold since then. As a serial entrepreneur, Spalding has founded or co-founded over a dozen companies, cutting across a wide swath of industries, including, but not limited to, retail, direct mail, television production, hardware, software and Internet offerings. Spalding Labs is now, in many ways, the culmination of this experience, and it is now counted among the largest direct mailers in the equine world. The company boasts a uniquely powerful enterprise and e-commerce management platform, an in-house video production unit and the recently introduced Flying SL Ranch Internet Radio Station. Its Fly Predators are produced in one of the largest, state-of-the-art insectories in the world. Visitspalding-labs.com for more information.
