Aug. 28, 2013 — The American Quarter Horse Foundation is teaming up with the American Quarter Horse Youth Association to launch a national fundraising project to support important equine research studies across the country.

The Heroes for Horses campaign focuses on building national, regional and local affiliates’ awareness of the importance of research, the need for funding and the careers available in the field of equine research.

The campaign encourages youth involvement and youth volunteer activities. Through the campaign, local affiliates will raise funds for equine research and provide opportunities for local community service hours. Individuals and affiliate teams will have the opportunity to earn awards ranging from educational awards to trips to AQHYA events.

Since 1960, the Foundation has invested more than $9 million to support equine research studies that lead to discoveries that save and improve horses’ lives. Research includes advancements in controlling and treating laminitis, vaccinations for infectious diseases, and more. Learn about current and past equine research projects funded by the Foundation here.
