Maryland Horse Industry Partners to Discuss Economic Impact on Maryland

WHAT: Maryland horse industry partners will join key Maryland legislators and officials to celebrate Horse Industry Day on February 23, 2016. Hundreds of Marylanders from across the state have registered to participate in advocacy efforts on behalf of the horse industry.

The Maryland horse industry partners are a coordinated voice of individuals and businesses throughout the state involved in Thoroughbred and Standardbred horse racing and breeding, trail riding, steeplechase, sport horse competitions, rodeo, carriage driving, therapy programs, and other equestrian industries. Horse industry partners will announce at the press conference the upcoming economic study, commissioned by Sage Policy Group, which will provide the most recent quantitative updates on the horse industry’s contributions to Maryland’s economy and more.

Maryland representatives will discuss the importance of Maryland’s horse industry to the state’s economy and heritage through job creation; tax revenue; land preservation; recreation, sport and spectator opportunities; historic and cultural benefits; and more.
