WWW.PAULICKREPORT.COM — DEC. 21, 2012 — New Mexico-based Valley Meat Company has filed suit against the USDA, claiming the agency has ignored its application to have inspections reinstated at its facility, which has been converted from a cattle slaughterhouse to accommodate horses.

Company owner Rick de los Santos said that he was initially “encouraged” to convert his business, and then noticed a “marked change in cooperation” by the agency, which he was told stemmed from politics and has cost him enormous amounts in lost profits.

De los Santos is also suing the Humane Society of the United States, Front Range Equine Rescue, and Animal Protection of New Mexico, who he says led a prolonged assault on his business to the point of defamation.
