Merck Animal Health announced that it will expand its vaccine manufacturing unit, doubling the capacity of its Tissue Culture Department. The new $18-million facility will be operational by early 2013 and will allow for the growing demand for veterinary vaccines. Pfizer Animal Health is also doing its part to help fight equine diseases with the launch of an educational video about Equine Herpesvirus Type-1 (EHV-1). After the recent outbreaks this past spring and summer, Pfizer teamed up with the Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders to create the video, which features three renowned veterinarians who explain the ins and outs of the virus and what horse owners should be aware of.
